Homie Ship: import carrier rate sheets into Shopify without retyping a thing

On Shopify, setting up carrier shipping rates is normally a manual, rate-by-rate job. Homie Ship imports a carrier rate sheet — CSV, PDF, or even a photo of a paper price list — for DHL, bpost, GLS and others, and writes the rates straight into the store's shipping zones, in bulk and by weight bracket.

Born from a real problem, not a theory

Before building the app, I ran a Shopify shop myself with several carrier contracts — bpost, DPD, GLS, Mondial Relay — selling to many countries. The problem was always the same: collect the rate sheets, organise them, then type them into Shopify. With several carriers and destinations, that setup took weeks, and every rate change meant redoing part of the work.

Homie Ship is the answer to that experience: if your carrier already gives you a rate sheet, why retype it by hand? The app starts from the existing files — CSV, PDF, or a photo of a paper grid — and writes the rates into the shop in bulk.

Why shipping rates become unmanageable

A shop delivering to 10, 20 or 30 countries with several carriers has to maintain every combination:

  • Destination countries
  • Shipping zones
  • Weight ranges
  • Rates and shipping methods
  • Carriers
  • Zone-specific rates

What if your rates change?

Carriers update their sheets regularly: price increase, new zone, new weight ranges. With bulk import you start again from the new sheet instead of editing every rate one by one.

A trust model, not a black box

Every write to the store follows the same rules:

  • Never a half-write
Every change is grouped under one named, additive option ('Homie Ship rates'): the app never touches rates the merchant already configured.
  • Preview before writing
The merchant sees the full plan — zones, weight brackets, warnings — before anything is written to the store.
  • All or nothing
If a step fails mid-write, everything that was created is automatically rolled back. Never a half-written result.
  • Exact removal
The 'Remove' button deletes only what Homie Ship created, never the merchant's existing settings.
  • Readable audit log
Every publish or removal is logged in plain language — date, what was created, in which zones — visible to the merchant.
  • Refuses to guess
If a country can't be matched to Shopify's shipping zones, Homie Ship writes no rate for it and flags it by name, rather than guessing or silently skipping it.
  • 'Bulky-light' detector
Flags products whose volumetric weight exceeds their actual weight — the ones that would be under-charged on shipping — and names them explicitly.

Who it is for
