How-to guide

Analyze a site before reading it

Analyze first reads a few pages of the site and tells what can be read for free. No scraping is started and no paid service is called.

Checked against the software on November 1, 2026

The case: you want to read the “lighting” category of a supplier, fournisseur-demo.example.com/luminaires, and first find out whether the site can be read and whether prices and images will be there.

Before you read a site

Check the site's terms of use and the rights to its content (text, photos, trademarks) before you read or reuse it. Each user remains responsible for how they use the data they read. This note is general information, not legal advice.

Run the analysis

  1. Open New scraping.
  2. Paste the address in Site address.
  3. Click Analyze first, next to Start scraping.
  4. Wait until Analyzing… is over: the verdict appears below the form.

If the Analysis failed box appears, it gives the technical detail: check the address, then run the analysis again.

Read the verdict

The first line says what the Scraper can do. For example:

  • Free extraction possible · 24 product(s) detected · name, price, image: free reading works. The number is how many products the analysis saw; the site may have more.
  • Local browser render required (free): the products only appear with JavaScript. Leave Browser when the page needs it on: the built-in browser will read them, for free.
  • Protected site · assisted unlock · expected fields: name, price, image: the site refuses automated reading. See Why a site refuses to be read.
  • No product data on this page — check the URL: the page shows no readable product. Check that it is a listing page or a product page.
  • Page unreachable from here: no page could be loaded from your computer. Check the address and your connection.

The next line sorts the fields (name, price, image, barcode…) into groups:

  • free: name, price: readable at no cost, by simple reading.
  • free after render: image: readable at no cost, once the page is shown in the built-in browser.
  • unlock: barcode: readable only through assisted unlock, a paid service (see pricing).
  • absent: brand: the page does not give them.

If the verdict is poor

When the analysis finds no direct free reading, it can offer below the verdict:

  • Teach this page (point at a product — free): you point at a product on the page, and the Scraper keeps its pattern for the next scraping of that site.
  • Retry with the specialized browser, if no assisted unlock is offered and the specialized browser is on and ready (Settings, Protection and intervention card): it drives your real Chrome, for free.
  • An unlock button, if assisted unlock is available for this site and a licence key is entered in Settings: it shows its estimated cost before you click.

Teach the page in one click

  1. Click Teach this page.
  2. In the browser window that opens, click a product: its image or its name, not a menu or a banner.
  3. In the Site learned window, click Start scraping to read the page right away, or Done.

If the click does not land on a product grid, the Couldn’t learn this page window says so: click Try again and aim straight at a product tile.

Check

After teaching, the Site learned window shows how many products were recognized on the page, or only that the page's pattern was saved. After the scraping, the end screen says how many products have a price and an image: compare with the fields the analysis announced.
