How-to guide

Export your WooCommerce data for the Converter

You are leaving WooCommerce. Export your products with WooCommerce’s built-in CSV tool, check the shape of your customer and order files, then drop each file into the Converter.

Checked against the software on November 1, 2026

Example: Atelier Démo sells 40 textile products on WooCommerce, including T-shirts in several sizes and colours (variable products), and is moving to Shopify.

What the Converter recognises

DataExpected fileWhat the Converter reads in it
ProductsCSV from WooCommerce’s built-in export tool, with the Type and Regular price columns, or their French names (Tarif régulier…) if your admin is in French; the older export format, with the post_title and tax:product_cat columns, is read tooOne row per product, then one row per variation, attached to its product by the Parent column.
CustomersWordPress user export CSV, with the user_login and roles columnsOne row per user. Only users whose role is empty or contains customer are taken.
OrdersCSV with one row per order and the order_status, item_name and item_type columnsOne row per order; its line items are listed in item_name, separated by commas.

The Converter also reads JSON responses from the WooCommerce REST API (products, customers or orders) saved in a .json file, if someone technical extracts them for you.

Export products

The labels below are those of WooCommerce’s official help.

  1. In the WordPress admin, go to “Products > All Products”.
  2. Click “Export” at the top of the page: the “Export Products” screen opens.
  3. Keep “Export all columns”, and all product types and categories.
  4. Check “Yes, export all custom meta” if you want to keep the data that extensions added to your products.
  5. Click “Generate CSV” and wait for the export to finish: according to WooCommerce’s help, your browser then downloads the file.

Variation names

According to WooCommerce’s help, an exported variation’s name may not contain its attribute values. The Converter does not use it: it reads the values in the attribute columns (Attribute 1 value(s)…).

Customers and orders

WooCommerce’s built-in CSV tool handles products. To export customers and orders, WooCommerce’s help presents an export extension. That extension’s files have not been tried with the Converter: it only recognises the columns listed in the table above. If your file does not have them, the File step does not recognise it as a customer or order file.

Drop the file into the Converter

  1. In Eloshon Converter, click New conversion.
  2. At the Platforms step, choose WooCommerce as the Source platform, then your new store’s platform as the Target platform.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. At the File step, drag the exported file onto the drop zone, or click the zone to choose it.
  5. Read the box that appears under the drop zone, then click Continue.

Check that the file is recognised

  • File recognized, followed by WooCommerce and the type of data: the file is recognised and the Continue button is available.
  • “Unrecognized format: no column has a likely match. Check that this is an export from WooCommerce (products, customers or orders), or export it again as CSV from your store.”: check that the file comes from WooCommerce’s export and has the columns listed above.
  • For a customer file, the Review step says how many users were left out because they are not customers, for example: “3 non-customer user(s) skipped.”

What was tried in the app, with the Converter’s sample files: products from the built-in export tool, customers and orders, each time to Shopify. The Converter wrote each file. Importing these files into Shopify was not tried.
