Convert your WooCommerce products into a Shopify file
Atelier Démo is moving from WooCommerce to Shopify. You convert its product export into a CSV file in Shopify’s product import format, then check what it contains.
Checked against the software on November 1, 2026
Where you start
Atelier Démo sells clothes on WooCommerce. Its product export, made with WooCommerce’s built-in export tool, has 5 rows:
- a ribbed jumper in two colours, black and ecru: one row for the product, one per colour, two photos;
- a leather belt, sold at 49.00 instead of 65.00;
- a scarf that is not published yet, with no price and no description.
With your own export, the screens are the same: only the names and numbers change. The screenshots on this page come from another sample file: at the review step they show 4 products and 5 rows, while the text announces 3 products and 4 rows.
What you will be able to do
- read a column marked To check;
- give a missing price without touching your original file;
- write the Shopify file and know what is in it.
Before you start
- Eloshon Converter installed on your computer: see the Download page.
- The products export of your WooCommerce store, as a CSV file: Export from WooCommerce.
- You do not need an Internet connection: the file is read and converted on your computer.
Step 1: Platforms
- Open Eloshon Converter. On the home screen, click the New conversion button below the title.
- Under Source platform, click WooCommerce.
- Under Target platform, click Shopify.
- Click Continue.
Step 2: File
- Drag your CSV file onto the Drop a CSV, JSON or .eloshon file, or click to browse area, or click the area to choose it.
- Read the card that appears: File recognized · WooCommerce · products, then the file name and its number of rows (5 here).
- Click Continue.
Step 3: Mapping
The table shows each column of your file and the Shopify column that receives it. It opens on the To handle filter: here, a single row.
- Read the
Sale pricerow: it is marked To check, with the reason Suggestion: confirm with Edit. - Scroll down to Preview of converted rows: for the black jumper,
Variant Priceis 59.00 andVariant Compare At Price79.00, like the sale price and the regular price in WooCommerce. - In the same card, under Edit the output file, leave the Also write categories as tags, to build Shopify collections box ticked.
- Check that Variant stock shows Quantities from the original file, otherwise choose that value: the choice is remembered for Shopify, even if it was made for another file.
- Click Continue to review.
A To check row does not stop you. Here, the preview already shows the right prices without you confirming the suggestion: leave it as it is. You only need Edit if the destination is not right.
Step 4: Review
The counters show 3 products and 4 rows. The list shows two problems on row 6*, the scarf’s row: Missing price. (Warnings) and Empty description. (Info). The asterisk marks the product’s first row in your file.
- On the Missing price. row, click Fix.
- In New value, type
39.00, then click Save. - Check that the warning has left the list. The note about the empty description stays: it does not prevent the export.
- Click Continue.
This price only changes the conversion, not your original file. Further down, What will not transfer (Shopify limits) and Data with no match in Shopify tell you what does not reach the file: the short description, the dimensions, the In stock? and Meta: _edit_lock columns.
Step 5: Export
- Under Destination folder, keep the suggested folder (Documents, unless you changed it in Settings) or click Browse….
- Under File name, keep the suggested name: your file’s name followed by
_shopify. - Click Export.
An earlier export can be replaced
A file with the same name in that folder is replaced without asking. Accented letters in the name become _: “café” and “cafè” give the same file. Choose a name without accents, different for each export.
The result
The Conversion complete screen lists the files written and their folder; Open folder opens that folder. For Atelier Démo, it is a single CSV file: the header, then 4 product rows.
- The jumper takes 2 rows with the same
Handle(PULL-COT): one per colour (Option1 Name= Couleur), each with its SKU and stock; its two photos are inImage Src, one per row. - The belt has
Variant Price= 49.00 andVariant Compare At Price= 65.00. - The scarf has
Status=draft, with the 39.00 price given at step 4. - Each category is written in
Product Categoryand added toTags(“Femme” and “Femme > Mailles” for the jumper): at step 4, the Converter reminds you that Shopify only accepts categories from its own list inProduct Category. - Weights are in grams, in
Variant Grams.
Messages you may see
- This file does not match the chosen source platform. The button next to the message picks the right source.
- Product has no title: it cannot be created. This is a blocking error: Fix lets you give the product a name.
- Duplicate SKU “PULL-COT-NOIR”: the target may overwrite or reject this product. Towards Shopify, this is a warning: you can still export.
- If the file cannot be written to the chosen folder, the The conversion stopped window shows Unrecognized format., even though your file is recognized: choose another folder or another name.
Importing the file into Shopify
The Converter stops at the file: it does not connect to your store. The steps to import it into Shopify, based on Shopify’s official help, are in Import into Shopify. Eloshon has not tried this import in a real store: after the import, compare a few records with your old store.
Other ways to do it
- You often convert files of the same shape: at step 3, Save as template keeps your choices, and Apply a template applies them next time. See Mapping templates.
- Your store is changing address: at step 5, tick Also generate a redirects file and fill in both address beginnings; the Converter then writes a second file whose name ends in
_redirections.csv. For a WooCommerce source, the old address in it is built from the SKU, not from the real address: correct that file before you use it. - Your file is long: at step 5, tick the option that splits it into files of at most 500 rows. Each file repeats the header. The rows of one product stay together.
- Your catalogue comes from a site read by Eloshon Scraper: choose Eloshon Scraper as the source and drop the job’s
products.jsonfile.
