Tutorial
Convert your WooCommerce orders into a Shopify file
Atelier Démo wants to keep its order history while moving from WooCommerce to Shopify. You convert two orders, tell the Converter how to read their dates, then read the written file.

About the screenshots
The screenshots on this page come from another sample file: their names and numbers are not those of the text. The screens, the buttons and their position are the same.
Where you start
Atelier Démo’s WooCommerce order export has 2 rows, one per order:
- order 7001 of 02/03/2026, for Léa: a vase and a bowl, the coupon BIENVENUE5 (5.00 off), completed;
- order 7002 of 05/06/2026, for Tom: a candle, with the note “Emballage cadeau”, being processed.
These dates read both ways: 02/03 can be 2 March or 3 February. The Converter will ask you.
What you will be able to do
- answer the question about the date order;
- spot an order that was not written;
- read an order with several items in the Shopify file.
Before you start
- Eloshon Converter installed on your computer: see the Download page.
- The orders export of your WooCommerce store, as a CSV file: Export from WooCommerce.
- Know how your WooCommerce store writes dates: day/month or month/day.
Step 1: Platforms
- Open Eloshon Converter. On the home screen, click the New conversion button below the title.
- Under Source platform, click WooCommerce.
- Under Target platform, click Shopify.
- Click Continue.
Step 2: File
- Drag your CSV file onto the Drop a CSV, JSON or .eloshon file, or click to browse area, or click the area to choose it.
- Read the card: File recognized · WooCommerce · orders, with 2 rows.
- Click Continue.
Step 3: Mapping
No row needs handling. In Preview of converted rows, order 7001 takes 2 rows, one per item. Its date (Created at) is read month/day there: 2026-02-03. The preview at this step keeps that reading, even after you answer at the next step.
- Click Continue to review.
Step 4: Review
Before showing the screen, the Converter opens the Order date format window: The dates in this file can be read two ways. Pick the one your store uses.
- Click Day/Month: “04/05” = 4 May. Your choice applies to every date in this file.
- Read the counters: 2 orders and 3 rows. The problem list is empty: orders have no row-by-row check there.
- Read the Good to know about this conversion card: 1 coupon(s) converted to a discount.
- Read the What will not transfer (Shopify limits) card, especially: 2 order(s): Shopify assigns its own order numbers on import (Name column left empty). The source number (7001 → 7002) is kept as a note attribute (Note Attributes: source_order_number), never in the Shopify sequence.
- Click Continue.
If you click Cancel, dates are read month/day, and the question comes back when you click Export.
Step 5: Export
- Under Destination folder, keep the suggested folder (Documents, unless you changed it in Settings) or click Browse….
- Under File name, keep the suggested name: your file’s name followed by
_shopify. - Click Export.
An earlier export can be replaced
A file with the same name in that folder is replaced without asking. Accented letters in the name become _: “café” and “cafè” give the same file. Choose a name without accents, different for each export.
The result
The Conversion complete screen lists the files written and their folder; Open folder opens that folder. The CSV file has 3 rows after the header:
- order 7001 on 2 rows: the first carries the e-mail, the statuses (
paid, fulfilled), the 71.00 total, theBIENVENUE5code and its discount, the addresses and the vase; the second carries only the bowl; - order 7002 on 1 row:
Financial Status=paid,Fulfillment Status=unfulfilled, and its note inNotes; Created at=2026-03-02T09:12:00Zfor order 7001: 2 March, read day/month;Nameempty, and the WooCommerce number inNote Attributes(source_order_number: 7001).
Lineitem sku stays empty: the WooCommerce export gives the product number, not its SKU. Lineitem price receives the WooCommerce line amount (item_line_total) as it is: the Converter does not divide it by the quantity. For an item ordered more than once, this amount is the whole line, not the price of one item. To check it, find the rows of the file where Lineitem quantity is more than 1 and compare Lineitem price with your WooCommerce order: for two bowls at 22.00, it is 44.00. Replace it with the price of one item before the import.
Messages you may see
- This file does not match the chosen source platform. The button next to the message picks the right source.
- An order with no items is not written, and the Review screen does not name it. Compare the orders counter with the valid rows counter: if they differ, an order is missing from the file.
- If the file cannot be written to the chosen folder, the The conversion stopped window shows Unrecognized format., even though your file is recognized: choose another folder or another name.
Importing the file into Shopify
The Converter stops at the file: it does not connect to your store. The steps to import it into Shopify, based on Shopify’s official help, are in Import into Shopify. Eloshon has not tried this import in a real store: after the import, compare a few records with your old store.
Other ways to do it
- Your customers are moving to Shopify too: Customers: WooCommerce to Shopify.
- Your file is long: at step 5, tick the option that splits it into files of at most 500 rows. Each file repeats the header. The items of one order stay in the same file.
- You often convert files of the same shape: at step 3, Save as template keeps your choices, and Apply a template applies them next time. See Mapping templates.
